My Mission

Some of my girls from Jam Camp 2011

Ever since I was nine, I went to a camp called The Swamp. (No it is not actually a swamp) It became like a second home and became the safest place on Earth to me. The Swamp is a place where you just feel loved and cared for. Everyone there really gets to feel a connection with God when they go wether they are a camper, counselor, or a kitchen worker. God's love is everywhere at that camp. Without The Swamp I wouldn't be where I am today. It taught me things about my character, about friendship, about giving, and about living my life for God. It taught me humility and it overall showed me how precious God's love is for me, and how we are nothing without it. Even when I would go back and make mistakes during the school year and spit in his face over and over again, I would still get the chance to come to camp and learn and feel his love again and he never gave up. The Swamp never gave up on me.

My church helps a church in Jamaica financially, and frequently we send families down there to encourage the church and to help out. In 2010 we were given a great opportunity to bring camp to Jamaica. It had been on a lot of people's heart to bring camp other places but it almost seemed like an impossible dream. One dreamer- Jeff Rorabaugh- went for it and some how figured it all out. We were going that summer. We fundraised and fundraised to get the money and the church and probably some of you reading this helped us and we got to go. It was the most incredible thing. I went as a camper and I got to see what Swamp was like in a different country! The kids loved us so much and were so grateful that we came and shared Jesus's love with them. Some kids were well off and some were the poorest you could be, some were white, some were black, but Jesus' love brought us all together into this union that can never be broken. So many children's lives were impacted by one week of camp. My life changed completely, for I got to see what it was like to really be like Jesus-to be a true disciple of Jesus. After that trip I got baptized and really gave my life to God. I did't want to just live life anymore, I wanted to live for Jesus. So many other kids were impacted and changed there lives as well.

We decided we were going to do a three year program.
-The first year: We lead the camp and show them the ropes.
-The second year: We co-counsel and help them out.
-Third year: They take over with little help from us.
And from then on out is just how God wants to use the camp.

We have gone since that first summer to Jamaica, Barbados, and South Africa, and we have places who have contacted us from India, Brazil, Kenya, and Bolivia. If you can't help financially pray for this amazing thing that is happening. SWAMP IS SPREADING ALL OVER THE WORLD. I am just one of the many people who have hearts to go and serve. Please continue to support Swamp Corps as we continue to spread and serve! I am so grateful for all of you who have helped me so far and are by my side. I am so grateful for every prayer.
Thank you for your time and love,
Kati
